Trailcake on a trail in Gloucestershire

“Becky and I had a great ride with Andy. He knows the trails well and put together a ride that met our requirements – plenty of swoopy singletrack on natural trails with the added bonus of being well away from the masses on the man made routes. The pace was spot on and social but rest assured Andy know how to handle a bike and you will have fun chasing him on his favourite downhill sections” Ian Britchford (01/06/2012)

I have been riding mountain bikes for a good few years now and have enjoyed trips to trail centres all around the UK including venues in Wales, Scotland and the Lake District. My favourite venue being Whinlater near Keswick in Cumbria. My girlfriend bought me a mornings biking with Andy as a birthday present. I had mentioned wanting to try some more ‘natural’ trails as a way to improve my bike handling skills.

Taking a rest on a mountain bike trailOur ride started in a small village on the outskirts of Cheltenham and after a couple of hundred metres of tarmac we turned off onto double track and warmed our legs up with a steady climb out of the valley. Once at the top of our climb the trail turned into fast flowing single track that allowed me to find my feet a bit before heading onto another climb. From this point on the great trails just kept on coming We rode for over three hours on a brilliant mixture of fast sweeping trail, down steep shutes, across slippery roots and wound our way around technical sections that where just tough enough to keep you on your toes.

I would never have been able to find these hidden gems without Andy and it is clear that he knows the area really well as we were often diving off through narrow openings totally hidden from view.

Andy’s enthusiasm for riding has to be seen to be believed and I will be recommending him to all of my biking mates. He even got excited when helping me with a couple of mechanical difficulties.

Great biking, great cake and great fun… I will definitley be coming back for more.

thanks again Mike Norris….
